To all TT riders

Now that the government have stated Club Type ‘B’ Time Trials can resume Hereford Wheelers Cycling Club will be holding 10-mile events on the Leominster course.

This is the only 10 mile course to use during this difficult time to make sure we are all safe. Signing-on, number collection and car park can be organised to maintain social distancing.

The CTT (Cycling Time Trials) is the name of our governing body and they have given guidance to organise a Club Time Trial. I have attached below guidance for you to follow when at Leominster industrial estate about signing-on, number collection and car parking.

These events will be held on a Pre-payment and Pre-entry basis. Entries close 48hr before race start to allow time to fix start list.

Please enter each race each week, there is no block booking this year.

Payment format each week example ---- Name and event date ---   Chris Hughes 15-04

Please send an email to confirm that you wish to take part in whichever event. If you would like an allocated number, I will do my best to get as near as I can to that number within reason. As the event will be held on this new basis the start sheet I will try and make it available the evening before the event.

  • Unfortunately, the results will not be available at the end of the event to see or photograph.
  • Please do not congregate as the results will be put on the website as soon as possible on the same evening as usual.
  • Please leave after finishing your race.
  • There will be no entries on the day.

If you are late for your time slot you will not be allocated a later start time.

Entry Fees remain the same (as in A-Type open events there will be no refunds unless event is cancelled)

  • £4-Wheeler member,
  • £5-member of an affiliated club,
  • £6-One-Day membership.

Entries close 48hr before race start time.

First claim Wheeler members will take preference if for any reason the race must have a reduced entry number.

Payment for events to Hereford and District Wheelers Cycling Club, a/c no. 00198014, Lloyds Bank Ltd., Hereford Branch, 8 High Town, Hereford HR1 2AE (sorting code 30-94-14)

  • Please bring your own pen to sign-on with. Hand Gel will be available at sign-in.
  • Please bring you own pins (4) to attach your number if you do not use the internal pocket on your skinsuit.
  • Numbers will be in easy reach near signing-on, Remove only your number and return to the allocated position on your return for cleaning.  You are asked to return only your own number, stay safe, protect all.

Waiting at Start line:-

  • Maintain social distancing
  • There will be no pusher-off so riders will start with one-foot down
  • Only two waiting riders behind starting rider

Bullet Points for riders. Protect yourself and others :–

  • Do not attend event if you feel any symptoms that could be leading to Covid-19 illness.
  • Maintain 2 meters distance - wear a mask around the signing-on and car park area - remove when making your way to start line
  • Working Rear Red light is compulsory – light not working on start line you will be asked to leave.
  • When overtaking another please leave plenty of room to maintain social distancing as per CTT guidance.

These are the CTT guidelines below – please read

Competitors should not attend if they feel ill in ANY way or if family members have any symptoms.

  • An elevated resting heart rate or exceptionally quick to react heart rate during warm up can suggest an underlying asymptomatic illness of ANY kind. You should NOT start the event (DNS) and leave immediately.

Do not go to the start line if you feel this is the case and notify the organiser of your intention not to start because of an adverse warmup.

  • Ideally all warm-ups should be done on the road, although at the discretion of the organiser static warm-ups can be permitted if strict social distancing can be maintained.
  • Competitors MUST NOT gather in anyway regardless of current guidelines in the car park, HQ area or elsewhere.
  • Competitors MUST NOT leave any personal items with the timekeeper.
  • Competitors on finishing MUST NOT stop at the finish and MUST NOT loiter at the HQ/car park and MUST pack away and leave immediately upon completion of the race.
  • No support can be provided if a competitor suffers mechanical difficulties. It is strongly advised that all competitors carry with them a spare inner-tube/tubular, pump and tyre levers if required.
  • It is strongly advised that all competitors carry a mobile phone and take with them the telephone number of the event organiser. Please telephone the organiser if you have failed to finish the event.

Hereford Wheelers have followed the CTT guidelines but if you would like to check that you can improve your own personal safety is the place to look.

This will be a new experience for all concerned to enter and hold these events during the Covid-19 pandemic. I hope you enjoy these 10-mile events and would be interested in any feedback you are willing to share.

It is in your own interest to be Covid socially aware, let us hope the events go well!
